MAYES GETS SURPRISE AWARD


FootballHeads midfielder Daniel Mayes returned to his old school last night to present The Appleton School annual sports awards and ended up walking off with one of his own.



The surprise award marked his success as a footballer after leaving the secondary school in Benfleet.



“This awards ceremony has been put together to celebrate the amazing achievements of Years 7-11 who had a record number of successes this year,” said The Appletons school’ head of PE Vince Spadea. Among the successes the school have had this academic year are: year seven girls are double district Taekwondo champions, the school winning 13 district athletic medals and the year eleven boys winning the overall athletics title.
